In 1996, the Academy of American Poets established National Poetry Month to promote the love of American Poetry. As part of that celebration, the Friends of Ferndale Library invite local poets, community members and students to share their love of poetry every April. The Friends of the Ferndale Library are dedicated to supporting the Ferndale Public Library and their mission to 'bring the joy of reading and the world of ideas to every resident in an open and enriching environment'.

Don't forget to come the 8th Annual Poetry Festival Saturday April 20th from 1:30pm to 3:30pm. In addition to our featured poet, Kevin Murphy, we will have a representative from both the police and fire department reading. Come early to sign up for the open mic sessions. Should be a fun day!
